LabVIEW installation problem

Hello everyone!

I can't install LabVIEW   2021 SP1 . I am stuck during the installation of Measurement Studio. I always get the following error message:

An error occurred while installing a package: ni-mstudio-common-help (19.1.0.49152-0+f0)

Additional error information:

An error occurred while installing the MSI package at 'MStudioCommonHelp32.msi'.

On my PC, I have the following versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable shown in the image.

Does anyone have an idea, please?

Sigh.  Installation of LabVIEW can be difficult.  I always tell students to bring their laptop to me and let me install LabVIEW for them.  One "problem" you might have is you are installing "old" versions of LabVIEW, one that might be designed for Windows 10 (are you running Windows 10 or 11?).

Once you have a failed installation, the first (and safest!) step is to do a complete uninstallation of LabVIEW, using the "Safety-first" method of removal.  There are several reboots in this process, and you need to be careful to avoid doing any "extra" removals, as well as not messing with the Windows Registry nor removing any left-over National Instruments folders.  I recommend using Control Panel, the "Programs and Features" entry.

  • Open Control Panel, "Programs and Features.
    • Click on NI Software.  This should open NIPM, the NI Package Manager, which is the Installer (and Uninstaller).  Note you must have Admin Rights.
    • Uncheck the "Products Only" checkbox (near the top/middle) and then check "Name" checkbox above the list of items to uninstall (it should basically check everything).
    • Click "Remove" and start the removal (you have a few more "continue" clicks.)
    • When it finishes, let the system reboot.
  • When it reboots, run Control Panel, Programs and Features again.
    • You should see NI Package Manager (which was there earlier, but you left it alone).  You should not see NI Software.
    • Select NI Package Manager.  You should get a warning, "Are you sure?".  The answer is "Yes".  This step is much quicker.  Reboot.
  • Now run Control Panel for a third time.  You should see NI Software again.  Go ahead and select them all for removal.  Reboot when done.
  • At this point, you are ready to reinstall.

So now you can reinstall LabVIEW.  Reinstall as little as possible.  On the first screen, install LabVIEW, JKI VIPM, and the default Drivers that are suggested.  On the last "Additional Items" page, select as little as possible.  You do want support for DAQmx and NI VISA, but initially don't install much else (unless you know you need them).
