LabVIEW Student 2014?

Solved!
Go to solution

I am interested in the student version for 2014, but according to all the links here, I only see the 2013 licenses are for sale still.  (I presume they weren't updated yet.)

However strangely enough, the 6-week evaluation keys found here, work perfectly fine with the 2014 trial.

Does anyone know where/how/if I can purchase a student license that will work with 2014?  (I have my college ID and .edu email and so on.  Naturally.)

Thanks! 😄

Hello MrHappyAsthma,

I believe that you're right in saying that the links have not been updated yet.  The release of LabVIEW 2014 was last week, so it's possible that this will take a little while to update.  The Student licenses are actually delivered by third-party sources, so perhaps that's why the NI 6-month trial licenses are working correctly already. The only suggestion I can give you would be to use the evaluation version until the purchase of a 2014 license becomes possible.  Have a great week!

If you don't know this already, be aware that LabVIEW has versioning issues.  If you develop code in 2013 it can be opened in 2013 or 2014 (or hopefully any year after that).  But if you save it in 2014, it now cannot be opened in 2013 without back saving it.  This process is a bit of a pain and unless VI server is involved you have to do it one VI at a time, or rather one VI hierarchy at a time.  Not impossible but just know if you develop on a 2014 trial, then want to open in 2013 you'll need the 2014 evaluation to still be working.  Or you could post code on the version conversion board and ask someone to help.

That's what I figured.  Thanks for the information 😄
