LabVIEW- Installation trouble

I am having trouble installing "NI LabVIEW 2009 Platform" onto our new computer.  The OS for our new computer is Windows 7.  The DVDs are from August 2009 and are labeled are for Windows Vista/XP/2000.  Could there be a compatibility issue here?  Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Hi Jay,

Refer to this document:

KnowledgeBase: Windows Version Compatibility with LabVIEW

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B972242574D4BB99862575A7007520CB

Remember that Windows 7 was only released in the summer of 2009.  That being said, you should be able to use most things on Windows 7 regardless.  What part of the installation is failing?  Do you receive any error messages?

Regards,

Tom L.

Try running the "setup.exe" on the CD in Windows Vista compatability mode.  This should (hopefully) allow you to install LabVIEW 2009.  Afterwards you can then patch it by following the instructions and download here: http://www.ni.com/download/labview-development-system-2009/1463/en/.

Let me know if you still experience issues and what specific error(s)/problem(s) you encounter.

Hello and thank you for your response and help.  Do you happen to know what the difference between LabView 2009 and LabView 2009 SP1 are?  We have something called 2009 Platform.

What is the difference between NI LabView 2009, LabView 2009 SP1, and LabView 2009 Platform?

LabVIEW 2009 came out in August 2009.  LabVIEW SP1 is service pack 1 and contains patches and bug fixes.  It came out around February 2010.

LabVIEW 2009 "platform" really doesn't mean anything.

The "platform" in the DVD name simply means it comes with a suite of tools.  See here for more information:  http://www.ni.com/white-paper/7387/en/.  The "SP1" is a Service Pack update to fix bugs and patch other problems.  Here is more info on that: https://www.ni.com/support/lv2009_sp1.htm

EDIT:  Also, there is no need to post the same question 3 times.  Simply post it once and be patient while we read it and respond 😄
