LabVIEW 8 & Windows XP Embedded?

We have a system running XP Embedded and I would like to run a compiled LV8 application on it.  It requires one of the DAQCards (1200) to gather data.  I guess I'm just not sure how this will all fit on the system.  Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.1 is a 386MB zip file.  The LV8 Run-Time install is 85.4MB, although there is a 24MB reduced functionality download.  Is there anyway of reducing the size of these installs?  I don't need to support every single card NI makes - just the card for my system.  Any ideas from those that have done this?

Thanks!

Hi Derek,

You will need to use Traditional DAQ version 6.9.3 (instead of version 7.4.1) because that is the last Traditional DAQ driver that supports the DAQCard-1200.  This is actually helpful in your situation because the EXE installer of Traditional DAQ 6.9.3 is significantly smaller at 62.3 MB.

We do not have individual DAQ drivers for each individual DAQ card, so there is no way to reduce the size of the DAQ drivers going that route.

I also want to warn you that National Instruments does not officially support Windows XP Embedded, since it has not been tested.

Hope this helps!

This is great stuff!  Thanks for the links.  I'll be upgrading my CompactFlash to a larger one and that should give me some breathing room for the NI installation.  We're not against using a different DAQCard in the system, besides making more money off us :), it there a compelling reason to upgrade to the DAQCard-6024E or DAQCard-6062E?

Thanks

No problem, Derek.

The main differences I see between the DAQCard-6062E and the DAQCard-6024E is that the 6062E has aa much higher Maximum Sampling Rate (500 kS/s vs 200 kS/s), much higher Output Rate (850 kS/s vs 1 kS/s), and more triggers (Analog and Digital vs only Digital).  The big advantage of the 6062E would be its speed.

You can see a Data Sheet with these comparisons at the following link.
