LabVIEW 2009SP1 and 2010SP1 crash

Hello,

I need some help! The only LabVIEW-Version running on my computer is LabVIEW 8.6.1.

LabVIEW 2010 crashes since several days. First it was the version 2010f1, then 2010f2 and now 2010SP1. It is always the same behavior. The startup window is shown for some seconds. Shortly after the text "Initializing Menus" is shown, the crash occurs. The only dialog shown is one of windows looking for a solution. Some details follow at the end of the message.

Since today also LabVIEW 2009 crashes too. Just after starting it reports "Unable to open resource files." without any further information. Which files? Where can I find more information?

Since the last successful start today I did a NI update and a reboot.

I am Running Windows7 SP1 64bit, the LabVIEW Versions are 32bit.

Thanks for any help,

shb

Is there a reason you're trying to run 32-bit LabVIEW in a 64-bit OS? Why don't you run 64-bit LabVIEW? Take out the middle-man, so to speak.

Because it is not possible to build a 32bit executable out of it, the version the customer wants.

Yes, I'm aware of that.

You said that the crashing started within the past few days, so the obvious question is: what changed?

Yesterday I did the update to LabVIEW 2010 SP1 and started an update of the instrument drivers. I hoped that LabVIEW 2010 would work thereafter. Today I did the succested reboot. Thereafter I could not start LabVIEW 2009 anymore.

What I installed before LabVIEW 2010 stopped working is difficult to say because I installed several programms on this new computer. I executed repair for different NI components. The next try was uninstalling LabVIEW 2010 and its toolkits and reinstall LabVIEW.

I just installed LabVIEW 2010SP1 64-bit. It runs. But this does not help.

Interesting. I had a similar problem. I am on a 32-bit XP machine. A laptop with limited disk and RAM.

When I updated to LabVIEW 2010 SP1, my LabVIEW 2009 SP1 started to have an error. I do not recall the error message (Microsoft Visual C something - or was it offering to open that as a debug resource . . .?). It was a Friday afternoon, so I just took the ENTIRE WEEKEND and uninstalled all NI products from my computer and reinstalled the 1st quarter DVDs from 2009, 2010, and 2011. ~36 hours of computer time later and it works great.

That is not what I had set out to do, but I managed to get it so messed up by trying to repair then later uninstall and reinstall 2009 with 2010 there, it messed with the device drivers and toolkits until it was easier to totally start over than to try to fix it.

I hope that is not what you wind up doing as well.

Good Luck,

Bob Young

Executing repair for LabVIEW 2009 SP1 (32bit) helped for this LabVIEW version. I have forgotten to try this before, probably because I was too disillusioned after the endless tries to get LabVIEW 2010 running.

As indicated LabVIEW 2010 SP1 32bit does still not run. But this is not so important because I do not need it for the current project. But any hints are welcome of course.

Thank for your help, forum and NI

Greetings,

shb

Today I had to repair LabVIEW 2009 SP1 again. No idea what I did since the last successful start. At least it works again...

Hi,

I am also experiencing crash issue with LabVIEW 2010. I have only LabVIEW 2010 installed and I am developing my application. My laptop is Windows7 64bit, but LabVIEW is 32bit. While we are working with LabVIEW, LabVIEW crashes suddenly and every thing closes without any message. Crash occurs at different situations (multiple times in a day)

  • When running the top level VI
  • When openning a VI by double click from project explorer
Later I updated with LabVIEW 2010 SP1 and the no of instances is reduced but still the crash occurs say once or twice a day.
The application built using this code runs in a Windows 7 32bit (at customer place). Application exe also crashes randomnly few times day.
Any insights in the issue will help me.
Thanks,
A Senthilnathan
