LV6 VI Compatibility

If I use LV6 to create some VIs, what other versions of LV are they
compatible with?

Thanks...Ed

LV6. You can save them out as LV5 (Save with Options) but LV6 style panel
items are converted in a truly grotesque manner and there are some things in
LV6- primarily VI Server stuff- that cannot be translated. If you need to
develop for LV5, you're best doing it IN LV5 IMHO.

And if you need to develop in LV4 or below, get used to saving regularly 😉

Thanks, Craig. Sounds like versions earlier than 6 are not worth the
trouble. How long has 6 been out? Do most developers use 6?

Thanks...Ed

6 has been out a good few months now, but from talking to some instrument
manufacturers at a conference recently I discovered quite a few people
haven't bothered moving to 6 due to the limited number of additional
features. I use 6 and I'd prefer to work in 6, but for most purposes having
to work in 5 is no great hardship. The hardships begin if you have to work
in a version that predates the "undo" function, which if I remember rightly
was introduced in version 5.

Think its worth distributing VIs for LV6 and LV5? I could have both on the
installation disk. Is it possible to get a copy of LV5 for testing?
