LV 2010 measurement I/O

Solved!
Go to solution

Well this is embarrassing but I can't figure this out. I just installed LV 2010 distribution from an NI provided disk. All the updates were then applied automatically via NI over the web. In the Functions pallet under Measurement I/O the only option listed is NI Scan Engine, none of the DAQmx icons are there. It is almost like DAQmx is not installed BUT on the controls panel I can select the physical channel can put it on the FP. I also have LV 8.6 installed and every thing is normal there. I have an USB-6008 installed and it shows up and test OK from M&A.

Thanks for any help!

You will need to install the DAQmx driver again. In your installation, was there a prompt for installing the Device drivers? If not, try to find that and install the DAQmx driver.

There was no prompt to install drivers or not. Should I goto NI web site and look for drivers, if so what version will work with 8.1 and 2010?

I am not sure if you have the NI Device Driver CD, since you can just use that. Otherwise go to http://www.ni.com/drivers/ and install the DAQmx driver.

Thanks, it is downloading now. Looks like another hour to go before it is done. I'll let you know how it works out!

Thanks, I should have known that , but my 8.6 was working and even in LV10.0 it seemed DAQmx was working because I could create phys channels using DAQmx name controls  on the FP. I would think NI would have tested this better. After over an hr install of the NI  CD, I needed to DL a Gig plus driver file, that took over an hour, then another more than hrs wait for it to install. In all it took nearly 5 hrs to get this running.
