Your question is so vague and imprecise that no one knows what you are trying to do.

• A knob is a control to be operated by the user!!!
• If you want your program to "control" it, make it an indicator instead (right-click...change to indicator).
• If you want both (i.e. the user and the program constantly fight over the setting, leave it as control and update it via a local variable (seems pointless).
