Keyboard acces to Edit/Run-Time Menu still unavailable since LV 8.0 (on Windows)

Hi all,
working since LV 5.1, I am used to call the Runtime- Menu- Editor via the keyboard with Alt+E, R. This is very convenient to me, and fast. But since LV 8.0 this Keystroke is interfered by Edit/Remove from Project. Why did nobody fix it for so long? LV 8.0 was released in 2005, this is a long time and it's still there in 8.5.1.
Or did NI do it by purpose?

   Hello Dave,

Unfortunately I have to tell you, that this is no issue to be fixed. I'm sorry for you being forced to change this procedure. There have been many technological changes from LV5.1 to 8.5.1. I don't know the exact reason, why developers changed the shortcut-combination.

The bigger part of nowadays' users are accustomed to the new configuration. I would be tedious to change the mass' habit.

   Kind regards-

Your argument above changing existing habits would make some sense if there were actual habits to break. In my case, I used to use Alt-A and Alt-D all of the time as shortcuts to perform alignment and distribution. The shortcuts have been gone for a while and as far as I can tell they haven't been assigned to anything else.

But what confused me was the point that the shortcut is still shown by underlining the R of Runtime Menu (btw. I'm using the Windows- Version). After now having a closer look at the concurring menu Item "Remove from Project", which is always greyed, I was not able to find any information about that instruction (is instruction the right word?). In the LabView Help at Fundamentals>>LabView Environment>>How To>>Menus>>Edit Menu this item is not listed! I still have the impression, this is a bug.

I have been wondering why (& of course WHO) Ctrl+O for Open was changed to F8 in LV 8.2. Smiley IndifferentSmiley Mad

Have anybody noted this?

Hallo Dennis,

on Windows Ctrl-A is now Edit >> Select All. Aligment is now Shift-Ctrl-A. I have often to switch between 7.1.1 and 8.x and are also a victim of this change.

Using 7.1.1, 8.5.1, 8.6.1, 2009 on XP and RT

Hi partha,

in LV8.5 (and LV8.2.1) Ctrl-O opens a vi dialog, F8 does nothing - atleast on WinXP...

Hi Partha,

interesting "feature"Smiley Happy

All my LV installations (see signature) use Ctrl-O to open a vi. Those LV versions run on different Windows versions from Win95 to WinXP. And there still exists a LabView3.1 on Windows 3.11 also using Ctrl-OSmiley Very Happy

Best regards,
GerdW
