Is there a way to have LabView 8.x look and feel like the older versions?

I just installed LV 8.  I noticed that for some reason the programmers moved things around, for example the Reinit. to Defaults is now under Edit where it was under Operate. The whole controls menus are way different than what I am used to.  I see no advantage to all of these changes and they will just slow me down.. Is there a  switch I can set to make LV 8 look and feel like the pre-7 versions  or do I have to once again relearn LabView?

Thanks

You can download the old palette setup from OpenG, but you can't change the menus. If you want more details about the palette change, have a look at this thread.

Thanks.  The link was broke, but at least I don't feel so alone after reading this.  I guess I will just have to work slower until I get used to where everything was placed.

You are not alone. There have been many threads about various things that NI "fixed" but which weren't broken in the first place. Now if I can just aford to buy the next upgrade that will fix all the bugs that really are broken...

I wish they would stop adding "features" that: a) aren't particularly useful; b) get in the way or c) are just plain ill conceived - and concentrate on getting the core functionality working. It's getting to be a pain to have to pay more to get the programming language to work the way it was supposed to when you bought it.

Is it just me or are there an ever-increasing number of people who simply aren't buying into the hype and aren't upgrading. When V6 came out a year later you didn't have a large number of people still running V4 - yet look at all the post you see from people who are still running V6. If it weren't for customers who can only buy the latest version, I would be working quite happily and productively with V7.1...

Probably - because there are more people using LV, there are also more people not upgrading (I have been using 7.0 happily for a long time, but the newer versions definitely have some features I could use, for example much better .NET integration). Some of the features are worth it while others would only arguably help newbies.

The link works fine for me, but just in case you do want to read it (it has an explanation from one of the big guns in LV R&D), the URL is
