Stupid Question.  Shouldn't the result of this calculation be 4?  When I run this I get 3.

No.

 

You have only 3 dt's from the zeroth element of the array to the 3rd element of the array.  The 4 elements represent f(0), f(dt), f(2dt) and f(3dt).
