Installer issue

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all,

We have upgraded to labview 2010 now from labviw 7.And we are facing an issue in building an installer. The installer I build for windows XP is running all fine but if I make an installer for windows 7, I installed it and try to run the exe I could not get the com ports in the drop down box of visa resource name. It just show the refresh option there.

May I know y this problem may be?,,,is there any option which I would have left out while building an installer.....

I would be thankful if someone can reply soon because this project is about to be dispatched...

thanx

May be a very basic suggestion, but do the ports appear correctly in the device manager in Windows 7?

Nonetheless, consider using VISA Find Resource VI to programatically discover all VISA resources attached to your computer and present it to the user to the user. This will avoid OS specific problems such as the one you are facing. Here is a KB on doing the same: http://ae.natinst.com/public.nsf/web/searchinternal/ae36614c94578a138625720a00827c7e?OpenDocument
