Installation of Application Builder

I have Labview Base Development System 7.1 installed and just purchased Application Builder. The application builder does not appear in the License Manager, however, so I am unable to activate it with the serial number I received. I tried re-installing the base software, carefully making sure that all options were selected, but still do not see it in my system. Is it possible my version of the base development system does not have the App Builder or am I missing something in the installation?

I don't have exactly your situation, but am close. I have a LV7.1 full development system with and add-on application builder. As I recall I installed LV and then the Application Builder (with 7.x they were separate disks) and it just worked. I never messed with the license manager.

Is the application builder present in the LV menus? Does it work?

Hmmm..I didn't get a separate disk with the App Builder - the envelop came with a letter stating that it should already be installed. It doesn't show up in LV, and I can't find any reference to it in the other ways I have found on the boards (M&A Explorer, etc). I am guessing that I will need a separate disk...

I would say so. Call NI with your license numbers and they should be able to get a disk out to you. If for some reason the guy on the phone can't help, talk to your local NI rep. Every one I have every met were good people (here in Ohio we are blessed with a couple great ones...) and sometimes they have ways of accomplishing things that the home office says is "impossible".

There was probably some confusion about which version of LabVIEW that you needed the app builder for. With LabVIEW 8.x, the app builder is always installed and just needs to be activated with a license. With older versions, if you bought it separately (not part of the professional version), you got a separate CD. Versions prior to 8.x did not have the license manager. LabVIEW 7.1 has not been sold for quite a time so I hope that the app builder is still available.

I was just going over things in my head and I seem to remember that when I bought my upgrade to V7.1 (some time ago) I think I got the same letter - and they had to ship me out a disk. As Dennis says, now everything is on the same disk and you turn it on using the License Manager - which wasn't explained (or I didn't see where it was explained) and required a different call to NI.

I have 7.1 base and the application builder. They are definitely on separate CDs.

I recently had to reinstall both, and could not find the app builder CD. I called NI support, and they were able to burn the app builder onto a CD and post it to me (After I had given them my serial number of course).

Thanks all.

I talked with the local sales engineer last night, and he told me 7.1 requires a disk which they no longer support (and therefore won't send me.) I will need to upgrade my base to 8.2 as was suggested here.

Let me get this straight, you have a separate license for the app builder but have never received it, and now they are refusing to send you the software?
