Bonjour Pierre,
I love LabVIEW. I find it very powerful, very useful, and a whole lot of fun. Text languages require an extra step in thinking, which was, I believe, the core reason for the creation of LabVIEW. It is an abstract language. I am very much able to have an entire large diagram in my head, and simply jot it down. This makes LabVIEW development much quicker and easier than text based languages.
Truly, one of the great advantages to LabVIEW is the ability of it to self document. Written properly (please refer to the topic "Programming Guidelines" for more info), LabVIEW code is very self documenting, and someone with only the most rudimentary information on LabVIEW (such as "This is an operator, this is a wire, and data goes this way) can ve
ry easily discern what is happening inside of a program. And the ability to open up functions (which are actual physical objects) is an additional advantage as well.
I strongly urge you to contact NI and get yourself an evaluation copy. It is great software, and you will have a lot of success with it, especially if you get some training. I strongly recommend the book "LabVIEW for Everyone" as well as the more advanced book "Power Programming" as a start.
Good luck
