Hello everyone,
I am new to LabView and I need to figure out how to use LabView to aquire images from many IP cameras (AXIS or Basler). So far I have stumbled upon old (2013) threads that do not mention CompactRIO use and the following article that mentions using it:

I would be very grateful if someone can tell me if I need to purchase a CompactRIO and if so which one since there are so many options?
If not, please include instructions on how to connect the IP cameras to LabView.
Thank you in advance!

You do not need a Compact RIO. I have a routine that acquires images from up to 24 Axis cameras simultaneously (it needs a pretty good Ethernet connection to the cameras!), originally coded in LabVIEW 2012, since migrated to LabVIEW 2016.
You need to purchase the Vision Development Module and Vision Acquisition Software, which are add-on licenses, I believe. IMAQdx is, unfortunately, somewhat tricky to learn. Expect to spend several months learning.
