I would like to know how to make the X axis of a Graph into real sample

Hi,
I would like to know how to make the X axis of a graph into real sample so that it can go continuously showing the new samples (but the same amount of samples). I´m receiving a senoidal signal at the serial port, one sample at a time and putting it on graph in a while loop. I´m using LabView 7.1. I´ve tried to use XScale.Maximum and Minimum properties but I it didn't work .How can I do this?
Thanks,
Celia

Have you tried waveform chart?

Dear Joseph,

As you sugest I tried the waveform chart. Yes, it worked as I wanted, but I got extra problems: The waveform flicks (I´ve already tried all update modes) and as the X scale is incrementing continuously, I´m afraid it is certainly going to hit its maximum value and it will cause an error (my acquisition don't stop). I don't know how to fix the Xscale (like 0 to 200).

Thank you for your help.

Celia.

That is the reason I use the waveform chart. It continuously updates the X asix allowing it to scroll off the window. This is useful especially when you have a long time period, e.g., months. But I have the window setup so that it shows 12 hours and keep a history of 5 days. What you mean flick does not have any meaning to mean.

Dear Joseph,

Thank you, as you sugested I tried the waveform chart and yes it worked as I wanted but now I have an extra problem: The waveform flicks (I´ve already tried all update options) . Do you have any sugestions?

I have an error message at last reply, so I tried again. The second problem I solved disabling X Scale in Visible items, so the waveform is being update but the Xscale is not being showed.

Thanks again,

Celia

You use the waveform chart as I want. Do you let the Xscale incrementing all day long? This is what I mean with flicking: The waveform is not stacked it is "shaking" on the chart. I noted that the chart is fast er than the graph.

I am sending my VI in attachment.

Thanks,

Celia

You need to set to set the history length, the time in seconds for each point on the chart property. I am enclosing the intialization vi's I use for my chart. I hope this will help a bit. Look at Chart_Time-Init
