MCC (http://www.mcc-us.com/) makes a serial port to I2C converter with an
easy to program ASCII interface. You want to use model number MIIC-202 and
it costs about $200. I have used it for testing temperature ICs. If you
end up using it let me know and I can send you the code that I wrote to help
you get started. Don't make the mistake of buying their MIIC-201 which does
not have an ASCII serial interface. It can only be used with their software
or a very hard to use DLL that you have to pay extra for.
