I have created Express VIs, some names are followed by a bracketed name, some are not, Why?

The reason I ask is that I want to make sure the Express VI has been created correctly, and because the names in the palette view are not consistent. For example, say I have two Express VIs, one named "My Express" and one named "My Express 1". Following the same procedure to get a palette view of the Express VIs, one name will show up in the palette as "My Express" (which is what I would expect) while the other will show up as "My Express 1 Source". I don't want the "Source" added on to the end of the name, and it makes me nervous that I have not created my Express VI correctly.

Another clue to the difference between My Express and My Express 1 is that if I look at the source VIs the names are also different. The difference being that some layers of the source have names that are followed by a name in a bracket. An example would be "subMy Express.vi" as compared to "subMy Express.vi [subMyExpress.vi]". I do not know what the bracketed name means.

Thanks for any help.

You should only rename your Express VIs through Express VI editor. Notice that the bracketed names are expected and used in the Express VI Development toolset manual.

Make sure to install the 1.0f1 patch for the toolset from here. It fixes some issues with the naming convention.

Good luck and Happy New Year!
