And no fair with the Voyager references...I never watched that show!!!

Don't worry, you didn't miss much. The only Star Trek that was really good was DS9. All the rest had their moments, but they also had some pretty terrible stuff and were mostly mediocre. Voyager had 3 Q episodes, non of which were amazing, some good Borg stuff (including what was the shortest and best Trek teaser ever, which was no more than 30 or 40 secs), and not very impressive bad guys. Most of their better episodes actually required taking the characters out of their regular existence (time travel), which shows you that it didn't work very well (not that there is any real problem with the concept, I think the problem is more with the characters, which were unlikable and annoying, for the most part).

28 is the maximum number of connectors on a VI.  I know the Hitchhikers' Guide answer, I guess I'm too serious or geeky to contribute to this....Smiley Sad

Well, if we are going to talk Star Trek, I would like to get this off my chest.  I didn't like Jean Luc Picard at all.  He was arrogant and rude, never smiled, had no sense of humor and no romanticism.  He was supposedly French (a non-romantic Frenchman???), yet he had no French accent (not even Canadian nor Cajun).  I doubt that he knows what "Bonjour" means.  He would always call Wesley Crusher "boy".  I think the "boy" should have knocked all his teeth out.

Actually, there were several episodes which showed Picard's background and explained why his character is so. He also had a couple of "romance" episodes, which do reveal a side he doesn't like to expose to his shipmates. I think Janeway and Archer had much less. Admittedly, he's a rather boring person, who would love nothing more than to discuss archeology and culture, but he does have a sense of humor. He just didn't show it as much as the other captains. I don't remember if they ever gave an official reason for his english accent, but he definitely grew up in france. Oh, and I don't think he refered to Wesley as "the boy" much after giving him bridge duty (which was fairly early in the first season). If you want annoying captains, I nominate Janeway.
I watch too much Star Trek, don't I?

I liked Picard....then again TNG was my fave of all the series.  But yeah, I often wondered why a guy named "Jean-Luc" had a British accent???

My other big question was why do all the aliens they encounter know Shakespeare by heart???

Spiff,

In your travels... do ALL aliens look humanoid??

50,000 LIGHT YEARS away and they look like humans with elongated ears, fringes on the forehead, and a few other enhancements..

Can't they imagine more obscure aliens??  Like vapor-man?   And why are all aliens fighting each other?  I though human and other earthly animals were the only thing in the Universe that craved blood..  😉

Last time I travelled through space, I......I.....hmmm....I remember lots and lots of pretty colors and flashing lights...and.....ummmmm.... Smiley Wink

Yeah, the amazing variety of aliens with two arms, two legs, etc was fun as well.  But don'tcha think it would have spiced it up a tad more if the aliens quoted from Dave Barry, or maybe Flavor Flav, or Andre the Giant.  Anyone but boring Shakespeare!!

As far as Jean Luc having a British accent, it was to balance out Connor MacLeod (Highlander) being a Scotsman with a French accent (then again Sean Connery played a Spaniard? "Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez"). He (JL) was sort of styled after Hortatio Hornblower, gruff, stern, but a basically decent captain. By the time of SNG British English will have overcome the pervasive invasion of Midwest American English that permeates the media these days.
