In case you didn't notice, you posted your question to the LabVIEW board.
You could post to the Instrument Control board but I think your question would be best asked of Agilent if you have trouble with understanding what is in the manual and knowing how the instrument works. You do not have a problem with either NI hardware or NI software. You could also look at the source code of the LabWindows/CVI driver. Even if you don't have that or a C compiler, you could still view the source code with notepad.
