How to connect VIremote to laptop/desktop to display Front Panel.

Hi, Im a student doing my Major project to design a Battery Management system(BMS)for Electric vehicles. I have completed most of my required objectives and  I'm doing my project's last objective for a better user interface. Where I'm trying to use an IPad(for user convenient/ touch screen) by using the software called VIremote to bring the frontpanel of my project to it.But I was unable to connect it to my laptop. And i'm using Ni-USB 6009 in doing this poject.

In that case I'm confused what is the server that I need to install to my laptop. Is there any thing like that?Or else is there any other methods that I can bring only labview frontpanel to IPad ?

Please anyone who can help me on this that would be grateful.

There are a number of way to remotely view your FP in a browser.

• Use LabVIEW Remote VI functionality to display a copy of the front panel in a browser (this is an older technology, the name of which I can't properly recall right now - sorry)
• Use Web Services (RESTful) to publish certain datas to a web server, then use either:
• Web UI Builder to create a browser-compatible front panel for displaying your data
• JAVA to interpret the web published data (xml file typically) and display it in your own web page.

As Im not really very good in Java I used Web UI Builder and it seems to be a better solution when I went thru it. But unfortunately I'm having a problem when I wanted to download. where I have already installed silverlight in my Laptop but still it keeps on asking me to install again when i open the UI builder try now page. I know its out of the topic,but if you could help me on that i would be able to solve and progress it.And is there any otherways that I can use except silverlight.

Further as i mentioned above im not really good in JAVA, if I were unable to try with UI builder how can i do it with JAVA,please help me on this where it would be grateful.

Hi Muji,

Unfortunately, I've not used the Web UI Builder myself. I know that currently it is only supported by Silverlight, but there are likely to be other supported frameworks in the future.

I also don't do JAVA, so I can't help there either.

I hope someone else with experience of this will be able to contribute to this thread for you.

I have used that app called VIremote, and it work very well for me after a long headache.

Did you ever establish a working connection with your PC to VIRemote?  I've been trying to figure out the trial version of this app but I can't even establish an initial TCP connection with my Laptop. After I spent quite a while trying to figure out VIRemote, I've finally arrived to the following questions: 

1. IP Address - Does it matter if my Laptop is connected to a WiFi network? Will this cause some kind of IP clash with with the Host PC (The PC connected via Ethernet). 

2. Port - What Port number do we need to use exactly? I've read the HelpVI that Throwlabs provided, and I understand the "Firewall" and "Port Forwarding" steps, but there is nothing that indicates which # to use. 

I would really appreciate it if you could help me out!
