How do I activate a trial version of labview?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I'm brand-new to LabView.  I want to test it with a small embedded system communicating with Ethernet and/or Serial port.  I downloaded the package manager and attempted to do "Tools -> Launch_Current_LabView_Version, but I can't get passed the Activation stage.  The dialog comes up and I click "Activate" with "Check my account for licenses" but it says I don't have a license.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

There will also be a button at the bottom to extend the trial version to 45 days.

Thanks for replying, but that page is exactly where I started, and I've already extended the trial license to 45 days.  Despite that, I'm not able to open a LabView session...

Here's what I do:

1) Click on VI Package Manager Icon

2) Within the package manager I then click on the menu item Tools->LaunchCurrentLabViewVersion.

3) That brings up a LabVIEW dialog that says the software trial expires in 45 days, but still has an "Activate" button, so I click on that.  It then gives me a drop-down box with 4 choices:

a) Check my account for licenses

b) Enter a serial number

c) Enter activation codes

d) Connect to a volume license server

I don't have a serial number, activation code or license server so I choose 'a', and click Activate again.  It then replies with "There is no license associated with your NI User account", so I can't go any further.

Hmmm...

Well, I just tried it again and this time the activation succeeded...

Maybe it just took some time on the NI server side to enable my account to have a trial version.  Anyway, thanks for replying!

I have a Question:

Does an "Evaluation License" from a Free Trial download allow for multiple computers/devices to use LabVIEW under that license? Or Just one device/computer?

It's user based, not device/computer based.

i.e. registered user can download a copy and try.
