How can I simultaneously do event counting on 2 counters?

I am using Labview 6.1 on a laptop with a pcmcia card 6036e which is connected to a bnc2120. I have a tach signal connected to user1 on the bnc2120 which is wired to counter0 source and I have a encoder connected to user2 which is wired to counter1. When I use the event counting vi it counts from only one counter. Example: I have 2 event counting vi, 1 for counter 0 and 1 for counter 1. When I run the vi and rotate a shaft to get a tach signal it will count correctly, but the same count also show for the other counter which should be 0 because it is setup for the encoder and the encoder is on a different shaft and not moving. Is it possible to count on both counters at the same time?

Darryl;

Yes it is. I'm attaching an exampe VI that shows how to configure the counters so you have both operations running in parallel.
The attached example only works for TIO based boards, therefore it won't work with your hardware. You can however change the VIs that are not supported on your hardware by the ones that are. You can definitely borrow the idea and apply to your case.
Hope this helps.
