How can I get a numeric slide control to return to zero once I hit a stop button?

The application is a manual speed control for motor VFD.
Basically, the motor speed is controlled by the user. However, when the user hits a stop button or another alarm trips the motor, I want the speed slide control to return to a zero speed setting as well.

After the stop button is clicked or the alarm condition, set the slide control to 0 with a local variable or property node.

Here is a VI that demonstrates this.

Just an additional comment: You should also make sure That the motor stops when e.g. the user tries to stop the program by other means (e.g. pressing the X in the windows bar). Put the reset code also into an event structure triggered by "application exiting", "panel closing", etc. as appropriate.

All of the answers on this page are fine. I would ask what the load of your system is. Depending on that I would have the code perform a ramp(deceleration) that would allow safe stopping of your motor. Not knowing what kind of power amp you are driving the motor with, I am unable to accurately state whether or not you may blow an internal fuse(in the case of full-power degenerative braking), in which case the system would free-wheel to a stop. Quite the opposite of what you want to have happen, happen. Also don't forget the "WAIT" in your while loops.

Hi,

I am trying to configure a system to drive a VFD with two options: manually and automatically. I am comparing PXI and CompactRIO with remote control capabilities. Would you mind disclosing your configuration? Thanks in advance.
