Has anybody developed applications using PDA module (Pocket PC version) and Bluetooth on a handheld using Windows Mobile 5.0 and MS BT stack?

Hi:

I'm wondering if anybody has developed applications on a Handheld running Windows Mobile 5.0 (namely the Dell Axim x51v) utilizing the bluetooth for development?  I have gotten some round about answers regarding this and I'm wondering if anyone has actually done this.  I am told that the PDA must use the WIDCOMM drivers for the bluetooth, but I am also under the understanding that the x51v uses the Microsoft BT stack in Windows Mobile 5.0.  So does anyone know if Labview PDA  Module can utilize the Microsoft Bluetooth drivers in a Handheld that is running Windows Mobile 5.0?  Does anyone know if you can run WIDCOMM stack on an Axim x51v?Thanks in advance.

Greycat,

I have not done this, but for Christmas I received the very same PDA.  I have been slowly ramping up development for it (in my spare time) and would be very interested in finding out what you discover.  Be sure to keep DevZone informed of what you find!

Also, if you run into problems and want to have someone else try something, let me know.  My e-mail is boby@distek.com .

Thanks,

Bob Young

Excellent ... and thanks for the email addy .. I think that will come in handy....  I haven't yet bought one of these ... I'm sourcing it right now and would like to know if it will work before I buy one.  I'll let you know what I find out.

Hi Greycat,

LabVIEW PDA is only compatible with the WIDCOMM drivers, therefore will not work with the Microsoft BT drivers which are shipped with the Dell Axim x51v.  As for running WIDCOMM stack on the Axim x51v, you may want to check the following link    http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?s=7830cd6023be775d33405a6b16273795&p=975877#post975877

Hope that helps!

This is what I understood ... thanks for the info ... rather disappointing actually ... the axim x51 look to be a good little handheld ... except the bluetooth drivers ...

Hey Bob Y.

Ever use an IPAQ for dev with bluetooth(LabVIEW PDA)?  Or for that matter has anyone?  Results? Opinions?  Looking at going with an IPAQ, probably the hx2490, with WM5 since the AXIM is not going to work.  Thanks

This is my first PDA.  I don't have a lot of experience with them, but I am learning fast.

Thanks,
