Generating report from multiple front panel indicators - Labview 6i

Apologies if this seems really obvious.

I'm looking to generate a report for a front panel vi that is basically a list of indicators (taken from some global variables).  I've looked at the report generation tool pallet. Examples not very explanatory so not too sure what to do. I need some way to output each of these indicators on a seprate line without having to make lots of seperate calls to the 'append to report' vi.

Thanks for any help.

You can try converting all the indicators to strings and then concentrate the strings and use the write to text file.vi, which can be opened in excel as well.

Hi Monk,

You have a few options...if your list of indicators is in a string array, you can simply use the Append List to Report.vi.  If you are dealing with a bunch of separate strings, you could always just call Append Report Text.vi in a loop.  And if you want a graphical representation of your panel, you could just use Append Front Panel Image to Report.vi.  If you have a list of the indicators in a text file, you could call Append File to Report.vi.  If you're stuck using LabVIEW 6i, these are the only options I can think of.  If you can get your hands on LabVIEW 7.0 or later, there are some new "VI Documentation" VIs in the Report Generation palette, including a VI called "Append VI List of Controls to Report.vi.

I hope this helps...let me know if you have any other questions.
