Generating an analog signal using PXI

Hello everyone,

I am trying to write a program using LabVIEW 8.0 that can be used to send  an analog DC signal (0 - 5 V DC) to an inverter. My hardware includes PXI 8196 (PC host) and PXI 8196 (RT Target).  Both have the modules PXI 4472 and PXI 6602. My knowledge about how to use these devices to generate an analog signals is very basic. Could any one please give me some hints on how to get started.

Thank you very much

PXI 4472 is a DSA card and has8 Analog Input channels and no Analog output channels

PXI 6602 is a Counter timer card with 8 Up/Down counters and even this card has no Analog output channels.

So, you will need to get a new DAQ card that has AO capabilities

This link will help you choose a suitable AO DAQ card

Thanks devchander for your explanation,

Is it possible with the devices I have to get digital output signals? if yes, could you please give me some more hints.

Thanks

PXI 6602 has DIO lines ( each can be configured os DI or DO)

It has 32 digital I/O lines (5 V TTL/CMOS)  of which 8 are dedicated and 24 are shared with counter/timers

For getting started, You can use DAQ assistant or Example vi's shipped with LabVIEW

Find Examples>>Hardware Input Output>>DAQmx>> Digital generation Folder, shall have the relevant vi's

Any further doubts, do ask

Regards,

Dev

Thanks Dev once again,

I have tried to run one of the shipped vi examples (write Dig Chan.vi), but because of my basic knowledge, I still couldn't get a digital output signal. I configured the 32 lines of the PXI 6602 as DO using the DAQmx Assistance, and have a cable connected from the PXI 8196 (RT) to a CB-68 LPR terminal which has 68 terminals, but I don't know which of these terminals are my outputs and which is the GND terminal.

Also, if I want write my own program, how to download the vi from the PC host to the RT so it can ran independently.

I appreciate your patience with me.

Mike

I guess you are saying that you are connecting the accessories ( cable and connector block) to the PXI 6602 DAQ card. Correct??

For the pinout/ connection  diagram of PXI 6602, you can download its user manual from here

Dont you have a LabVIEW RT user manual??

You could locate it on this website and that explains on how to download a VI from Host PC onto a RT target
