GPIB app wont communicate when on a dell laptop

I have a GPIB app I wrote that talks to a spectrum analyzer, it works fine on a dell desktop but will not work on the laptop.  I created the application (LV 6.0) with the LV RTengine when I created the .exe file.

When I use the measurement & automation explorer I can see the device on the gpib bus and can communicate with it, just not thru my application.

One other thing to mention is that on the laptop, I cannot pull down the Visa session or Serial port controls on the front panel.

Anyone have any ideas on this?  This laptop needs to leave in the next day or two so I need to figure this out pretty quick.

You probably don't have VISA installed. What error code is being generated? You can open MAX and expand the software listing to see if VISA is installed. When you right click on an instrument in MAX and select to communicate with it, VISA is not used.
