GPIB Read Buffer

Hii Friends,

Do help me out with this.

I have two scope( TDS 220 & TDS 620B)  connected to my PC via GPIB Interface. I am using Chanel-1 for both of them.

When i give the command "MEASUREMENT:IMMED:VALUE?" to both of them separately in MAX, their responses are as follows.

TDS 620B gives me a value 4.24E-3.(The value currently on the scope).

However TDS220  gives me :MEASU:IMM:VAL 6.00000061E-2.

Previously, i have used this scope many times but i got only a value at that time.

I am not getting why this is happening.Could anyone help me out. I have attached the snapshot with this

Hi PA,

in your other thread you got suggestions to read the manual of your devices - several times!

Most often such instruments have options to change the formatting of the answer they send for a request: you can en-/disable any kind of prefixes, suffixes, status bytes, whatever.

But then again: RTFM!

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi GerdW.

I posted it in a new thread since here am dealing with GPIB whereas in the other thread am dealing with VISA.

Secondly,Since the same command is causing two Tek scope to send different responses, i wanted to know what could be the reason although I have eliminated it using Scan in string function.

Hi Pa,

i wanted to know what could be the reason

I told you the possible reason: different settings of the devices. And I told you the solution: read the manual, then find the needed commands to set the formatting of the request answers!

Maybe you "played" with both devices and maybe you resetted one of them to use the factory settings again?

I posted it in a new thread since here am dealing with GPIB

Yes, I noticed this. (Otherwise I would have merged these two threads.)

in the other thread am dealing with VISA.

That shouldn't matter: the device will format its answers according to its settings and not based on which functions (plain GPIB vs. VISA) you use in LabVIEW!

Best regards,
GerdW
