Field Point Target Problem

I'm trying to use a Field point instrument and having difficulties. I updated the drivers for field point and opened from the VI Finder, Analog Input Express.vi . This vi has some vague instructions but is very difficult to work with.

In The Field Point Express properties I try to browse to a configuration file that I created in MAX. but it says no configuration file found. I click on view configurations and my file is listed but then I can't do anything with it. If I click ok and browse again I get the same result. 

On top of this when I configure to file in MAX I try to find the device and it says connection to a remote device timed out. 

I'm using a FP-1000 and a FP-AI-100.

Please help I have little experience with serial communication

Hey TSCline, 

What FieldPoint driver are you using for your programming? Please be aware that the express VI's for FieldPoint aren't actually supported in the newer driver versions. You should be able to perform all the tasks you need using FP Write.vi and FP Read.vi functions.

Can you be a little more specific about the steps you're taking in MAX (or take a screenshot) that are leading to the timeout issue with your target? Also, how are you connecting to your FP1000 from you host machine?  I'm guessing you're connecting RS232 directly from your device to the COM port on your computers motherboard. Is that correct?
