Fatal Internal Error

I have a LabVIEW VI that has several sub-vis in it. The main VI runs a test 18-hr long. The has been ruunning fine for past two months. To day suddenly it popped-up the following message:

Fatal Internal Error:"memory.cpp",line 638 LabVIEW Version 7.1. You will lose any unsaved work. For assistance in resolving this problem, please relaunch labVIEW, or contact NI.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional.
Computer: Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.8 GHz 496 MB RAM

What caused the problem? How can this problem be avoided?

Thank you.

First of all, has it done it just the one time? Sometimes "stuff" happens. On a very pragmatic level, if the error isn't repeatable, there's no real way to troubleshoot it...

If it is repeatable, how long does the prgram run before the error pops-up? Have you monitored the program's memory consumption in the task manager? Is it steady?
