Executable doesn't work like project...

Hi all!
I need some help... I have a project that has been working well, if not flawlessly, as a VI which calls multiple sub VI's and utilizes a global variable. I built an executable from this particular project, and it calls the sub Vi's with no problems, but it isn't writing to the serial port like it did when I was working with the project files... I have the laptop on which I'm currently working hooked up to another via serial link with hyper terminal on the other end so I can see what exactly is being communicated, and nothing is being received! I don't know what's up... Help please! I can post anything you need to see that will help... But I would like to hear some reasoning so I can understand what the problem is! Thanks again,
Ryan

Did you include NI-VISA Runtime in the installer properties? It needs that for serial communications if you used VISA functions in your block diagram.

No I didn't add the aforementioned files... I didn't realize that was  necessary! Would you be able to tell me how to add these files, and also what other types of functions would these files be necessary to use in conjunction with when making an ".exe?"
Thanks a bunch!
Ryan

**edit** I only built the executable file, I didn't install it (or build an installer); so shouldn't the run-time files all be fine on the laptop that currently has labview installed on it?
