Event structure stops responding

My application runs through a series of tests, each in its own event case. The events are either selected individually by clicking boolean buttons or stepped through sequentially by using the "val(sgnl)" property node at the end of a test to start the next event.
This work fine until all tests have been completed then the front panel, although not locked, fails to respond to and further inputs. Execution highlighting does not show any activity but the while loop is still running. Any ideas anyone? Attached is a screen print in a word document showing execution highlighting on.

are you sure the loop with the event structure is still running ??

can you attach the VI(s) so we can look at the whole thing ??

Dan,
I am fairly sure the loop is still running, there is only one event that stops the loop and that is the one that exits the program. It's hard to tell for sure if the loop is not looping.
I can't attach the whole program as it's v.large but I will attach a cutdown version to show you what I am trying to do.
