Error installing NI-VISA drivers in Linux

I'm using openSUSE Leap 15.2 with Linux LabVIEW 2021.

I installed LabVIEW Professional just fine.  Then, I attempt to install the latest drivers with instructions at: https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/documentation/supplemental/18/downloading-and-installing-ni-driver-...

I'm only installing the drivers for ni-visa, and everything goes fine until I get to step 4:

Update the kernel:
sudo dkms autoinstall

I get the error:

Error! Could not locate dkms.conf file.
File:  does not exist.

Anyone have any idea what this could mean, or how to troubleshoot this?
