EPICS I/O Server

I am trying to use EPICS I/O Server support for LabVIEW 2009 *without* the Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) module.

I followed the relevant download and installation instructions, as shown in this page:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/10812

Its worth mentioning that step 5 as shown on that page (and the file 'epicsreadme.txt')  is identical to Step 2. I assume this is an error and should in fact state that a further software installation is to be done from the .msi file in folder EPICS_LVSupp_90?

Anyway, having performed the installation and restarted the National Instruments Variable Engine, I right-click on 'My Computer' target in a new Project window, select 'New>I/O Server' from the shortcut menu, select 'EPICS Client' option (this does appear) and finally click the 'Continue..' button.

A 'Configure EPICS Client I/O Server' dialog box should appear. But for me, nothing happens at all after I click the 'Continue' button. so I cannot configure an EPICS I/O Server.

I have repeated this installation now on 3 separate PCs, all behave the same.

Has anyone succeeded in configuring an EPICS I/O Server for LabVIEW 2009 without the Datalogging and Supervisory Control module?

Hi Philip

I agree that line 2 and 5 being identical looks strange. In what order did you install the components? I can see three alternatives:

1. Install as the readme says, however strange that is

2. Install EPICS_LVSupp_90 as step 2 and NI_IO_Server_Provider_90 as step 5

3. EPICS_LVSupp_90 as step 5 and NI_IO_Server_Provider_90 as step 2

Have you tried all these options? I haven't tried installing this software myself as I have the DSC module installed on this PC but I'm gonna try to find one without it and try.

Best Regards

David
