Dynamic Link Library (DLL) Initialization routine failed (Labview 2010, Windows 7)

I have files recorded in HSDL format, which I view in several different VIs requiring a couple of dlls not included with standard Labview software, specifically nihsdl.dll and lvdaq.dll. The VIs were created on an old machine running Labview 6 and Windows 2000. I then used a laptop running Windows Vista and Labview 2010 for which I simply copied the necessary files and dlls into a folder, pointed the VI to these at startup and all the VIs worked no problem.

I now have a newer laptop running Windows 7, I have installed the same version of Labview 2010, yet when I point the VI to the required dll I get "Error loading C:/....../nihsdl.dll. A dynamic link library (DLL) initializaion routine failed.". This happens every time, no matter whether I put the files in the 32 bit program files folder, 64 bit folder or separate data partition. I have re-copied the files and dlls several times and am sure they are not corrupted.

Any help much appreciated. The machine has 6GB RAM if that maked any difference.

Did you install the NI Device Driver DVD on this new computer, and specifically the DAQmx, and NI-HSDL drivers?

And lvDAQ.DLL sounds suspicioully like the old NI-DAQ driver and not DAQmx. This driver is discontined since several years. So there is not and will never be a 64 bit version of it. But with your RAM of 6 GB I highly suspect you have 64 Bit Windows installed, on which NI-DAQ therefore never can run or even load.

I am having the same issue right now with Windows 7 and LabVIEW 2010.  Did you ever figure out how to make it work?  Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't find any way around this and did all the data analysis on a windows XP machine instead. Based on the first reply I didn't spend too much time trying to fix the problem, so I couldn't say that it is impossible but I'm not an IT expert.
