Directed Graph

Hi,

I'm trying to build a gloabal map using directed graph, can I include obstacles in directed graph? My professor does not want me to build a map using occupancy grid. 

I know that the nodes in directed graph are candidates point that the robot can go to. I would like to build a map with obstacles and walls that the robot can recognise them, so I can implement the path planning algorithm using the map as a reference.

Go to your professor and get him (or her) to sketch what you should use as a Directed Graph.  Then render it neatly and post it.  It would also help if you posted some code (means "attach a VI") so we could get a better idea of what you are talking about!
