Datasocket cannot connect to server

This document states that failure to connect to the Datasocket server results in a gray led for controls using data binding.

https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/labview/page/reading-front-panel-data-using-the-dstp-opc-ftp-ht...

I have an application that hosts the Datasocket server locally and writes data to this server using data binding. Occationally the LEDs of this program turns gray. What could be causing this since the application is on the same computer as the server?

Thanks,
Craig

Hi craige,

It looks like the document you linked only has information about a green and red LED, indicating successful or unsuccessful connection to the DataSocket server. The DataSocket server, which is on the same computer as your application, may be not running or may be denying connection.

Do you see a red LED, or just gray and green? If you hold your mouse over the LED, what is the message that comes up? How are you starting the DataSocket server?

Oops. You're correct. THIS documentation describes the gray led briefly.

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/lv/71/lvhelp/Subscribing_to_Front_Panel/

I occationally see red and most of the time the leds are green. On very rare occations the LEDs are gray in which case I don't know what to do. Green and red make sense. (usually red occurs when I shutdown datasocket server manually) To start the server I have a shortcut to datasocket placed in my windows startup folder.

Still havn't found the cause of this.

Craig

On mouse over the LED tip strip reads "Connecting: Parsing URL". Situation sounds similar to these thread.

I opened an application support number with the NI application engineers and I'm still waiting on my client to give me information regarding their suggestions regarding the windows firewall at this time.

Hi craige,

Are you using the diagnostic tool? What OS are you running on?

What is the service request number that you opened with the applications engineer? It would be helpful to be able to find who you are working with so we can more effectively work on this issue.
