Data Sorting

Has anyone done a sort similar to what is done in the browser bar?.  As i type into a text box, I would like a second list to be built from first (big) list from which i can select correct item.  Maybe begin building when some minimum number of char. entered into test box?

Have an idea but looks too complicated to be right method.
