Data Sockets on Mac???

Hi folks,
I apologize if this is a totally stupid question... but does Labview 7
Data Sockets work on Mac OS X? I've searched all over the web, and this
usenet group, and I only find one reference that seems to indicate it
should work.

I've got the Labview examples ("DataSocket Read.vi" and "DataSocket
Write.vi") running on the mac, but they're not talking. The connection
status indicates that they're not connecting. I suspect that I don't
have a Data Socket Server running, but I don't even see reference to
one on my Mac OS X, Labview 7 environment.

I also have a PC/Windows and the examples run/communicate fine. I saw a
separate app for the Data Socket Server and obviously had to launch
that (as per Labview documentation).

Thanks,in advance,
rmp

Hi rmp,

Just as you have observed, Macs don't run the DataSocket Server and therefore don't support DataSocket.  With Mac OS X, you can be a client to a DataSocket Server running on a supported OS, but you cannot run the server yourself.  Check out this KnowledgeBase: Which Products Support DataSocket? for some more information.

Please let me know if you have further questions!
