DSC Periodic Server Failures, Citadel Stops Logging Data or Goes Corrupt, I/O Servers Stop Working

The other day, seemingly out of nowhere, I essentially lost the function of the entire DCS module.  Citadel stopped working and the computer would freeze everytime I even tried to view hiostorical data.  Also, any VI that contained shared variables from the messed up libraries would not even open.  I coulnd't create new databases in Citadel either (thinking maybe I could just redirct the libraries and sharved variables to log somewhere else.  Basically just a complete system falter and it slowed my computer down to about 1/2 normal speed to boot!  A couple of my modbus I/O servers were actually still working.  I've been trying to get stuff back for 2 days now.

The first thing I did was to install the latest update that I recieved from NI.  I threw in the NI Developer Suite 2010 Version DS2 discs (which I had not previously installed) and that seems to take care of about 1/2 my problems.  All my Modbus I/O servers are working now and are being logged in Citadel.  I didn't even have to change anything after the update they just started working.

However, none of my Periodic I/O servers are working (I just get ther status of 'Server Failure' in the Dist. Sys. Manager).  Furthermore, it doesn't seem like I'm even able to create a new Periodic I/O server.  I've tried a couple of time but I can't bind shared variable to the server once it's created in the library.

Does anyone have any thoughts?  I'm thinking maybe I can just unstall and reinstall the DSC and MAX parts of LabVIEW.  Or perhaps I can attempt a system restore and take my computer back to a time before all this happened?

I'm lucky we're still testing things out because a system crash of this magnitude would be detrimental if my lab was fully up and running.  I'd like to try and understand what has happened and also how I can fix it / prevent it from happening again.

Thanks!

Mike
