Crossover cable connected XP & Win95, Data transfer performance very poor....

We have a network application similiar to that DataServer/Dataclient mode(in the Labview samples), but the server part(magnet related measurement) is installed on a windows 95 industry-PC and analysis part is on a XP laptop.... we connected it with a crossover cable, but the performance is super slow, everytime we want to get data (300byte) from the server, it takes more than 30sec. What could be the reason? we have following grouds:

1. between two XP, it works fine;

2. between NT and 95, it works also fine;

3. Both between two XP or between 95&NT, only the first time takes long....then it responses faster; but between the final XP&95 sets, every time it takes more than half minute to
get response;

4. with explorer or so, other applications, the network works fine (100Mb connection);

4. no NIC is 3C905C or from intel, we tried to downgrade them to 10Mbhalfduplex, but the problem is the same......

we tried to search around the network protocal and adjust MTU settings....but no lucky to get it solved.

Thanks very much for your help.

Sincerely, Peizhu

Peizhu,

How are you addressing the network connection? Are you using IP addresses or machine names? I would suggest IP adresses because you will not have to resolve names which LabVIEW will try and do.

However, it seems like your program works fine between the other operating systems, so this leads me to believe that it is an OS thing between 95 and XP and how LabVIEW interfaces with them.

How does your application work with normal cables and a hub in-between? This might help.
