Creating a word document from string

Hi all,

I might sound extreme stupid, but I got a question for you all.

Currently I'm doing a research at Oxford University which includes over 300 participants. Including testing and questionnaires I will end up with over 40 pages for each subject. Each subject will be assed over 3 times during the research.

I thought about it and decided to go with LabView to automate and digitize the questionnaires and sheets that have to be filled out.

But still, Ethics require to have one single document with an quick overview of all collected data.

my question:

If I make a sort of report in LabView, in a single string. Am I able to save this report in a single word document? If yes, are there examples or can somebody please help me on to a simple version. I'm not that big LabView whiz. So I'm looking for a conversion from string to word document. Does anybody have a example?

Best,

Paddy

I’m using LabView 7.1 btw.

Paddy,

There are a couple of ways to create a Word file.  One is to use the Report Generation Toolkit which includes vi's to create and edit Word documents.  Since you are associated with a university you may already have the toolkit.  The other way is to use ActiveX.  You should be able to find examples of both in the forums.  There may also be an example that shipped with LV.

Here is one example to get you going http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/992

The standard report tools in LabVIEW allow you to create a text or html report. If you don't have the add-on for Word or don't want to write a lot of ActiveX code, this might be an option. Open the example finder and do a search for 'report'. There are examples called 'Example HTML Report', 'Sample Test Report', and 'Text Report Example'.
