Convert VI from demo to license VI

Hi

I've written a VI with LabVIEW version 8.6 demo version, is it possible to convert it without errors to student license version of LabVIEW 2009 without re-writing the whole VI from crash. If yes how do i proceed.

Kind Rgds

Hi Paul

Just open the VI in LV 2009. It's as simple as that.

Of course if you used any toolkits in 8.6 demo you will need them in 2009 as well.

Hope this helps,

Daniel

Just fyi, the other way round it's a bit more complicated. To open a VI created in LV 2009 you will need to save for previous version to be able to open it in LV 8.6.

There is no feature difference between a demo version and an activated version of LabVIEW. The demo version will simply stop working after a while, at which time it needs to be activated for further use. This means you can immediately start working, even if there are activation issues. You have a couple of weeks to sort out the problems without being stalled.

A different question involve the upgrade/downgrade issues.

  • Older version can typically opened in newer versions without problems. The upgrade is automatic and painless. To open prehistoric versions, a little more effort may be neeeded. (For example, LabVIEW 2009 can open 6.0 and later version).
  • Downgrading involves a "save for previous". (For example, in LabVIEW 2009, you can save for 8,6, 8.5, 8.2, and 8.0).

NI has published a complete compatibility matrix that can give you all the details you need. Good luck!
