Controlling Excel with ActiveX

Hey all,

Be gentle, I'm new to ActiveX.  I realize this is a pretty popular topic, but I haven't found the answer I'm looking for yet.  I have used the Report Generation Toolkit in the past, but I am now looking for a little more functionality than it provides, hence my foray into ActiveX.

I understand the basics, and know how to open Excel, create a worksheet etc.  The problem I'm having is that a lot of the properties/methods which can be written to have variant inputs.  This is fine, except that in many cases I do not know what to write to the input.  The nice thing about most LV property nodes/invoke nodes is that they have the datatype displayed, and the context help will tell you exactly what the input is looking for.  Not so with these.

So in short, is there a reference out there somewhere which lists what all of these properties/methods require as inputs?

See the image.  An example of what I'm asking is...  What do I wire to "RangeValueDataType"?

Hi Day,

the fun thing of ActiveX (at least for office) is that the help files are linked.

You have to install the 'help for VBA' with the installer for Office/Excel, if you rightclick -> help in LV you will go to the MS help of that property.

BTW Ranges can be quite difficult to understand
