Control does not show up on Front panel

I do not know if I have hit some sort of maximum.  However, when I place new controls within the Block diagram they are no longer showing up on the front panel.  I have added a Tab control to add extra controls on differnet tabs so I am pretty sure I have more than a typical application.  Any ideas please let me know.

Could you attach the VI you are using which shows this behavior?  If you double click the block diagram object do you see flashes of where the object should be on the Front Panel?

Perhaps the control you created is hidden behind another object.

I was interested to see if I could run into a problem if you added to many controls to your Front Panel so I added 2048 boolean controls to a VI then created a control off of a Wait function. The block diagram looked like the following but I was able to double click on the integer control up top and find it on the Front Panel.

I would suspect that something else is happening unless I have underestimated how large your Front Panel really is.

I have a front panel with over 12000 controls on it.  No maximum limit there.

However, if you place them from the diagram, then LabVIEW has to make a guess as to where you might want it on the panel.  Sometimes it guesses OK, but if it's crowded, it will put it where it can, and that's off the page somewhere.

Double click on the terminal and it should find it for you.

You clearly don't have any hard limits to worry about. However structurally you are heading down a dead end road. The problems with tab controls are legion. One of the keys to a good program is modularity and tabs are inherently anti-modular. You should look into subpanels.

I would be curious to learn what problems you are speaking of. I've used tabs for years and have had little trouble.

I don't know what MIke is specifically referring to, but I know that using local variables to set which tab is showing has been problematic for years.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it just switches the tab without switching the contents.  So it tells you that TAB A is in front, but tab B's contents are showing.

You have not attached any VI yet, so we all must keep guessing. You don't even say what LabVIEW version you have. We are not clairvoyant!

A control can be hidden, it an be underneath some other controls, or it might not be drawn because your frontpanel exceeds some gigantic maximum size. Does the front panel look unusual if you show the navigation window?

There is no llimit on the number of controls, at least none that can be reached manually :D. How do you "place new controls on the block diagram"? You cannot place controls directly, but you can create controls on existing function input terminals or convert diagram contants to controls, for example.

What happens if you double-click the control terminal? is anything flashing on the front panel?

Obviously you need to show us your code. If you are are embarrassed by the code, delete everything except the terminals. 😉

Sorry for the late reply.  I have been busy.  I have attached the Project with  the VI in question but I have replaced the controls with one I directly placed on the front panel. I do not remember the other ones that did not show up.  Most of them are in the control loop of the Main VI because that is the part I added to the Continuous data aquisition example project I started with.  I made a few changes outside of that too though.

Do you have a version where some controls are not visible on the front panel? Everything I tried seems to be there.
