Connect to remote RT via VPN?

Hello, my question is, what settings (firewall, port forwarding?) are necessary, in order to connect a LV RT project or VeriStand project to a RT (PXIe) over VPN.
Locally, I can deploy a LV RT project or a VeriStand project to the system and both work.
The system is in a remote network and is connected to the internet. The router provides VPN access.
I can connect from home over my network over the internet to the other network via VPN.
Ping to all other network users is possible, also to the PXIe system.
1) NI Max does not recognize the RT immediately. Manually, the RT can be integrated via Network-> New-> System in Network -> IP of the RT.

The LV-RT project can be connected and deployed, but very slowly and the connection is often terminated, see figure 1.VPN_RT.JPG

The connection with NI Max to the system also takes a long time.
When the VeriStand project is deployed, other error 307660 occurs, see figure 2.

What settings do I need to make to work the VPN in the same way as in the local network?

Here is nothing specific:

Hi Rokot,

first of all, if you can not detect the target in MAX correctly, there might be some issue in between of the VPN connected computer and the target. Can you first take a look into MAX and ensure there is no message like "Inconsistant IP settings" for the target?

If there is no error message, the connection itself should be ok. However there may be some ports closed for the VPN connection. The ports needed for those connections are listed in the following link:

Configuring Software and Hardware Firewalls to Support National Instruments Products - National Instruments
https://www.ni.com/en/support/security/configuring-software-and-hardware-firewalls-to-support-nation...

Concerning the deployment time: Depending on your connection speed and the VPN delays the deployment will be slower here. This is expected. Depending on the deployment size the timeout for the deployment may be an issue here. For VeriStand you can set the deployment timeout in the options described below:

VeriStand Gateway Page (Project Properties Dialog Box) - NI VeriStand 2015 Help - National Instruments
http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372846J-01/veristand/veristand_gateway_db/

Concerning the error code you receive after the deployment:

This error message points to different date and time settings for host and target. If you are connected through VPN, your host may not synchronize its time with your company network. Please ensure, that the time and date does not differ more than 2 minutes between host and target.

Best,

Melanie
