Connect ethernet instrument to GPIB host?

Any available adapter that would let me connect an ethernet instrument
to a GPIB host configured as a controller and communicate with it via
Labview? I can create the instrument interface, but a Windows XP
compatible device driver would be a big help.

So far, all I can find is adapters that let me talk to a GPIB device
from a LAN controller. Need the reverse.

Please reply to email if possible.

Thanks,

Paul,

Why try to route control of your ethernet device through GPIB, when you can just control it directly over ethernet?

NI-VISA 2.5 or higher supports controlling devices over an ethernet interface. The following resource descriptor syntax will allow you to open a VISA communication session to your instrument.

TCPIP INSTR TCPIP [board]::host address[::LAN device name][::INSTR]

You may be able to find an ethernet-capable device driver for your instrument on IDNet.

You can also search for examples and tutorials by searching for keywords "VISA" and "ethernet".

Thanks,
