CompactRIO file transfer cache period

When I do file transfer with a target, I mostly use Total Commander or Explorer on Win 10. It works fine but has one downside - reading files there has sort of refresh rate / cache period.

  • Refreshing the folder and checking file sizes can be done very often and delivers up-to-date info, as well as going through folder tree.
  • Reading a file for the first time delivers up-to-date data.
  • Reading a file again after few seconds delivers same data as before (not up-to-date)
  • Reading a file again after a minute or so delivers up-to-date data again.

I don't even now what protocol is used for this kind of communication (i don't think it is FTP). Does anyone know what protocol is it and how to improve this refresh rate?

I know I can use SSH for this (which works fine btw) but for me it is way too slower to work with it.

WebDAV may be the protocol you are looking for.

I have noticed similar behavior with out-of-date files when retrieving files using the webserver configuration utility.  I had to disable all history and cache settings on the web browser to get around this.

For your application, the best approach may be to use the WebDAV API in LabVIEW to transfer files and read file properties.
