Communication between LabVIEW and Simulink

Let me first begin by saying that I am not very knowledgeable with LabVIEW or Simulink. I am helping with this project; I will attempt to provide a brief description of my problem.

 LabVIEW will receive information from our data acquisition system but I want to be able to send that information to Simulink in order to peform calculations. Then I want to send the output from Simulink back to LabVIEW which will then send it into another National Instrument device to carry out the instructions. My question is how to send this information from LabVIEW to Simulink and then get Simulink to send back it's output to LabVIEW? Is there any programming that I can do?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
